Sunday, 17 September 2023 Today’s Word of Hope:Those who are kind benefit themselves, but the cruel bring ruin on themselves. Proverbs 11:17 (NIV) The term “kind” can be defined as having a sympathetic, considerate, and benevolent nature. Being kind involves acts of goodwill, empathy, and a willingness to alleviate the suffering or difficulties of others without expecting anything in return. In the town of Capernaum, a man was paralyzed and confined to his mat. When his friends learned that Jesus was going to their town, they decided to carry him to Jesus for healing. When they arrived at the house where Jesus was speaking, they were astounded to see such a big gathering. There was no way to bring the paralyzed man near Jesus. However, they decided to take some extraordinary measures for their friend’s healing. They climbed onto the roof, made an opening, and lowered their friend down to Jesus. Seeing their faith and determination, Jesus healed that paralytic man, and he went home joyfully, praising God. This story exemplifies the power of kindness shown by the paralyzed man’s friends. Questions for Reflection: 1. Reflect on a time when someone’s kindness made a significant difference in your life. What impact did it have on you? 2. Kindness often involves going the extra mile for others. How can you practice kindness in your daily life, even when it requires effort or sacrifice? This story encourages us to be kind and considerate, recognizing that acts of kindness benefit others and bring blessings into our lives. Prayer: Lord Jesus, please help me to be kind and considerate to everyone around me. Amen.
