BE EMPATHETIC WITH THOSE IN PAIN AND SUFFERING.

Sunday, 26 November 2023 Today’s Word of Hope:Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering. Hebrews 13:3 (NIV) Today’s world is extremely hectic, and everyone is under tremendous stress and worry. In such a situation, it is difficult to understand the grief of others as if it were our own. However, this is not an acceptable explanation because the Bible urges all of God’s children to put others first. Jesus modeled empathy for others, and many historical leaders are well-known for their empathy. In the Book of Acts, Dorcas is portrayed as an exemplary woman of faith, known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering compassion, particularly in serving the widows of Joppa, a coastal town in Israel. She tirelessly devoted her time and resources to providing for their needs, ensuring they were not neglected or forgotten. Her actions reflected a deep understanding of their vulnerabilities and a genuine desire to alleviate their suffering. Her empathy extended beyond material support. She understood the profound impact of loss and loneliness, and she sought to bring comfort and hope to those who were grieving and isolated. Her story serves as a reminder that empathy is not merely a sentiment or a fleeting emotion; it is a driving force that compels us to act, to reach out to others, and to make a positive difference in their lives. Prayer: Lord Jesus, please help me be empathetic with those in pain and suffering. Amen.
