Saturday, 16 September 2023 Today’s Word of Hope:Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow. Isaiah 1:17 (NIV) The religious leaders brought a woman before Jesus during His time on earth. Since she had been caught committing adultery, the law of the land at the time required that she be stoned to death. The leaders sought to trap Jesus by asking whether they should carry out this punishment. Jesus, knowing their intentions, responded with wisdom. He said, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” He then stooped down and began writing on the ground. Pricked in their conscience, the accusers left one by one until only Jesus and the woman remained. Jesus, full of compassion, asked the woman, “Has no one condemned you?” When she replied that no one had, He said, “Then neither do I condemn you. Go now and leave your life of sin.” This story teaches us the importance of doing the right thing and seeking justice with compassion and humility. Questions for Reflection: 1. Can you recall moments in your own life when you had to balance justice and mercy in your actions or decisions?2. How can you apply the principles of seeking justice with compassion and humility in your interactions with others? # Do not rush to judge or condemn people.# Instead, develop the practice of analyzing the circumstances properly and doing the right thing. Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, Please help me to do the right thing and seek justice in all aspects of my life. Amen.
