Monday, 18 September 2023 Today’s Word of Hope:The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7 (NIV) The story of Daniel and his friends, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, is a powerful illustration of wisdom rooted in the fear of God. One notable event is when King Nebuchadnezzar commanded that they be given portions of his food and wine. Daniel and his friends decided against defiling themselves with the king’s food because eating it would compromise their faith. Instead, they asked the chief official to provide them with vegetables and water. They made this request, trusting that God would provide them health and wisdom despite their limited diet. God honored their commitment to Him. He granted them physical health and “knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning.” Daniel and his friends excelled above all others in their studies, outshining even the Babylonian wise men. Questions for Reflection: Consider the impact of God’s blessings on Daniel and his friends and analyze, 1. What would you do if you were in Daniel and his friends’ situation? 2. How can your faithfulness and excellence bring glory to God and make a good difference in the world around you? * This story exemplifies how the fear of the Lord can lead to extraordinary skills and wisdom, ultimately bringing glory to God and benefiting those who honor Him.* Fear God above all else and live a holy life.* You will surely be blessed. Prayer: Lord Jesus, please give me fear for your commandments in all aspects of my life. Amen.
