Friday, 1 September 2023 Today’s Word of Hope:Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:32 (NIV) In the story of Joseph, we see that Joseph, who was favored by his father, Jacob, was sold into slavery by his envious brothers. Joseph remained obedient to God. Ultimately, the painful journey turned in his favor, and he rose to a position of authority in Egypt. When famine struck Egypt and the neighboring areas, his brothers traveled there for food for their large family. They met Joseph there, though they did not recognize him. Though Joseph had the power to seek revenge, he chose a different path. He revealed his identity and forgave his brothers, assuring them that what they intended for harm, God had turned into good. This act of forgiveness brought healing to their fractured relationship, leading to a tearful reunion and a restoration of family bonds. Joseph’s story shows how forgiving can change things and how redemption is possible even after a deep betrayal. Questions for Reflection: 1. How can you demonstrate love and compassion to those who have offended you, as Joseph did for his brothers?3. As you think about Joseph’s story, how can you let go of hurts from the past and forgive, just as Christ has forgiven you? As you reflect on this example in light of Ephesians 4:32, may you seek to embody Christ’s forgiveness and compassion, fostering healing and restoration within your relationships. Prayer: Lord Jesus, please help me to forgive those who have tried to harm me and to show them your love. Amen.
