Friday, 8 September 2023 Today’s Word of Hope:Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. James 4:10 (NIV) In a city called Susa, there was a humble man named Mordecai. He was a Jewish person living in a foreign land, Persia. Mordecai took care of his cousin Esther, who later became the queen of Persia. One day, Mordecai uncovered a plot to assassinate the King, and he promptly reported it. His loyalty was recorded, but the King did not reward him immediately. However, Mordecai remained faithful. Later, a wicked man named Haman rose to power and devised a plan to annihilate the Jewish people. Mordecai encouraged Queen Esther to act immediately to save the Jews. After three days of fasting and prayer, she risked her life and went to the King without being invited to intervene. Haman’s plot was foiled in a remarkable turn of events, and the Jewish people were saved. Mordecai’s faithfulness and humility were recognized and honored. He was exalted to a position of authority in the kingdom. This story exemplifies how God lifts the humble, using them in remarkable ways for His purposes. Questions for Reflection: 1. Can you think of instances in your life or history where humble individuals made a positive impact by taking the right actions, even when facing challenges or uncertainty?2. Reflecting on Mordecai’s story, how can you cultivate humility and remain faithful even if you or your noble deeds go unnoticed? Prayer: Lord Jesus, please help me remain humble and faithful despite all setbacks and disappointments. Amen.
