Sunday, 10 September 2023 Today’s Word of Hope:In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16 (NIV) A woman named Dorcas, also known as Tabitha, lived in the city of Joppa. She was a devoted follower of Jesus and a beloved member of the early Christian community. Dorcas was known for her deeds of kindness and dedication to charitable work. She had a unique sewing talent and utilized this skill to create clothing for widows and the less fortunate within her community. As a result, she gained a reputation for her virtuous actions, and her influence extended far and wide. One day, Dorcas fell ill and passed away. Those who had been recipients of her kindness were not silent about her impact. Her departure left a profound void in their hearts. They mourned her deeply and praised her for the warmth and joy she had brought into their lives, which in turn glorified God. Beyond her sewing needle, her acts of compassion became a radiant example of God’s love within the community. Questions for Reflection: 1. Can you think of individuals in your own life or throughout history whose acts of kindness have impacted others? 2. Reflecting on Dorcas’ story, how can you exert influence through your own acts of kindness and charity, making a positive difference in the lives of those around you? Prayer: Lord Jesus, please help me positively influence my community through virtuous acts and righteous living, ultimately bringing glory to your name. Amen.
