Saturday, 19 August 2023 Today’s Word of Hope:Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1 (NIV) * In a world filled with diverse voices and conflicting ideas, the need for discernment becomes paramount.* As God’s children, it is highly critical to test the spirits to determine their authenticity before believing. The Bereans mentioned in Acts 17 are a shining example of discernment in action. When apostle Paul and his companions preached the Gospel to them, the Bereans eagerly received the word. However, they did not accept it blindly. Instead, they engaged in a diligent pursuit of truth. They examined the Scriptures daily to verify whether what Paul proclaimed was consistent with God’s Word. They understood that the message’s alignment with Scripture was paramount, regardless of who was delivering it. * As modern believers, we are called to emulate the Bereans’ spirit of discernment.* The world bombards us with countless ideologies, each claiming to hold the key to understanding.* However, it is our obligation to weigh these ideologies against the eternal truths of Scripture. * Our discernment should be rooted in a deep love for God’s truth and a willingness to align our beliefs with His revelation.* Rest assured that you will not go astray if you make this a regular habit. Prayer: Lord Jesus, please give me the grace and the gift of discernment to identify and stay away from all the lies of the enemy. Amen.
