Sunday, 20 August 2023 Today’s Word of Hope:For whom the LORD loves He disciplines, Just as a father disciplines the son in whom he delights. Proverbs 3:12 (NASB) * Proverbs 3:12 illuminates the connection between God’s love and discipline.* Just as a caring father corrects his beloved child, our Heavenly Father also disciplines us because of His deep affection for us.* Through discipline, God shapes us, refines our character, and guides us back to the path of obedience and spiritual growth. The story of Jonah is a vivid illustration of God’s loving discipline and a call to obedience. Jonah received a divine instruction to go to Nineveh and proclaim God’s message. However, he chose to flee in the opposite direction. Because of his disobedience, he was tossed into the water and consumed by a large fish. During his time in the belly of the fish, Jonah experienced a season of reflection and repentance. God’s discipline led him to a place of humility and surrender. Jonah eventually obeyed God’s command and preached in Nineveh, witnessing the city’s repentance and God’s compassion. * Jonah’s journey reveals God’s willingness to pursue us, correct us, and offer us opportunities for redemption.* Through discipline, God not only corrects our course but also guides us toward His purposes.* If you are facing similar situations in your life, take time to reflect on your path and check whether your life is on the right path.* If not, repent and take corrective action.* Come to Jesus boldly. He is loving, faithful, and eager to restore you. Prayer: Lord Jesus, please help me to accept your discipline and correct my ways according to your will. Amen.
