Strength for the Hammer 🔨
Today’s Word: 📖 “Do not be afraid, but let your hands be strong.” — Zechariah 8:13 (NIV)
Ben stood before the collapsed remains of the community greenhouse. The autumn storm had shattered the glass and splintered the wooden frame he had spent months building. His hands trembled slightly as he held his hammer, paralyzed by the fear that another storm would just destroy his hard work all over again.
But then his neighbor, Marcus, walked up and handed him a fresh box of nails. “The storm is over, Ben,” Marcus said gently. “Don’t let fear freeze you. Grip the hammer, and let’s rebuild.” Taking a deep breath, Ben tightened his grip, raised his tool, and struck the first nail.
In the same way, we also allow the fear of past failures or future storms to paralyze us. When God calls us to move forward, fear tells us it is safer to keep our hands in our pockets. But God’s promise of restoration comes with an invitation to active courage. He does not just ask us to stop fearing; He calls us to “let our hands be strong”—to pick up our tools, step into our callings, and do the work He has set before us, trusting that He is with us.
Response: 🚶♂️ Identify one area where fear has made you hesitate, and take one practical step of action toward that task today.
Prayer: 🙏 Lord, steady my trembling heart and strengthen my hands for the work You have called me to do so. Help me to push past my fears and rebuild with confidence, knowing You are guiding my every step. Amen.
