Planting in the Ashes 🌱
Today’s Word: 📖 “They will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit.” — Amos 9:14 (NIV)
After the wildfire swept through the valley, Clara stood looking at the blackened, ash-covered hillside that used to be her family’s apple orchard. It looked like a total wasteland, completely devoid of life. But the next spring, with soot still on her boots, she began clearing the dead wood and digging holes for new saplings. It took years of watering, pruning, and waiting through quiet seasons. But eventually, the hillside flushed green again, and the branches hung heavy with sweet, crisp fruit. Clara finally sat on her porch, took a bite of a fresh apple, and smiled at the beauty restored. 🍎
Similarly, we may look at the ruined areas of our lives—broken relationships, lost dreams, or seasons of deep grief—and wonder if anything beautiful will ever grow there again. But God is a God of restoration. He doesn’t just clear away the rubble of our past; He promises to rebuild and replant. The seasons of barrenness and ruin are not the end of your story; with Him, there is always a harvest of joy and renewal waiting on the horizon.
Response: 🚶♂️ Identify one area of your life that feels broken or stagnant, and take one small, hopeful step today toward rebuilding it, trusting God to bring life from the ashes.
Prayer: 🙏 Heavenly Father, thank You for being the God of restoration who brings beauty out of ashes. Give me the faith to plant seeds of hope in my quiet, difficult places, trusting that You will bring a fruitful harvest in Your perfect time. Amen.
