The Spilled Ink 🎨
Today’s Word: 📖 “You are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love.” — Nehemiah 9:17 (NIV)
Seven-year-old Leo stared in horror at the dark blue ink spreading across his father’s hand-drawn architectural blueprints—weeks of meticulous work ruined in a single, clumsy second. Terrified of the anger he assumed was coming, Leo fled to the hallway closet, squeezing his eyes shut in the dark. He heard his father’s footsteps enter the study, followed by a long, heavy silence. When the closet door finally slid open, Leo braced for a scold. Instead, his father knelt down, pulled his trembling son into a warm hug, and whispered, “It’s okay, buddy. It’s just paper. We can draw it again together.” 🚪
In the same way, we often run and hide from God when we mess up, carrying the heavy weight of our mistakes and expecting His anger. We assume He is keeping a strict tally of our failures, waiting to cast us out. But God does not react the way the world does. When we turn back to Him, we do not find a harsh judge ready to condemn us, but a compassionate Father who steps into our hiding places with open arms, ready to forgive and restore.
Response: 🚶♂️ Step out of hiding today by bringing your mistakes and regrets to God in honest prayer, trusting in His infinite grace to rebuild what was broken.
Prayer: 🙏 Father, thank You for being so patient with me when I make a mess of things. Help me to rest in Your abounding love today, knowing that Your grace is always greater than my deepest mistakes. Amen.
