The Restorer’s Bench 🛠️
Today’s Word: 📖 “You are a gracious and merciful God.” — Nehemiah 9:31 (NIV)
Leo stared at the warped, water-damaged wooden birdhouse sitting on the workbench. He had forgotten to bring it inside before the week-long torrential rains, ignoring his father’s gentle reminders. Expecting a harsh scold or a lecture about responsibility, Leo kept his head low as his father walked into the garage. But instead of anger, his father gently placed a hand on Leo’s shoulder. He knew Leo was feeling guilty of what happened. Instead of adding more pain to him, he pulled out a drawer of fresh sandpaper and wood glue and smiled. “It’s okay, son,” he said. “We can fix this. Let’s rebuild it together.” 🪵
In the same way, we often make mistakes, ignore God’s gentle prompts, and leave our lives in a mess of our own making. We might expect God to meet us with anger or abandonment. Yet, Nehemiah reminds us that our God is not waiting to discard us. He is gracious and merciful, always ready to forgive, restore, and rebuild our broken pieces when we turn back to Him.
Response: 🚶♂️ Bring your mistakes and regrets to God today, trusting that His mercy is ready to restore you rather than condemn you.
Prayer: 🙏 Father, thank You that Your grace is greater than my deepest failures. When I make mistakes, help me run straight to Your merciful arms instead of hiding in shame. Amen.
