The Lingering Feast 🍽️
Today’s Word: 📖 “They reveled in your great goodness.” — Nehemiah 9:25 (NIV)
Mary stood at the threshold of her grandmother’s kitchen, breathing in the rich aroma of slow-roasted pot roast, warm yeast rolls, and sweet peach cobbler. The dining table practically groaned under the weight of the feast. For hours, her family sat around that table, passing heavy platters, sharing stories, and laughing until their sides ached.
No one checked their phones or rushed to clean up. Instead, they lingered in the warmth of the room, passing around second helpings of dessert just to keep the moment going. They weren’t just eating a meal; they were thoroughly enjoying the abundance of the feast and the love that prepared it. 🥧
In the same way, God invites us not just to acknowledge His blessings but to truly “revel” in them. Too often, we treat God’s goodness like a fast-food drive-thru—grabbing our daily provisions on the run without pausing to appreciate them. Nehemiah reminds us of a time when God’s people looked at His abundant provision and chose to dwell in delight. When we slow down to savor His grace, our gratitude turns into deep, restorative joy.
Response: 🚶♂️ Take five minutes today to write down three specific ways God has blessed you recently, and spend time truly savoring and thanking Him for each one.
Prayer: 🙏 Lord, teach me to slow down and truly revel in Your great goodness, savoring the feast of Your daily grace. Amen.
