Wednesday, 27 September 2023 Today’s Word of Hope:Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. Deuteronomy 5:33 (NIV) One of the most famous Bible stories about obedience is the story of Abraham and Isaac. One day, God called to Abraham and said, “Abraham, take your son, Isaac, your only son, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains that I will tell you.” Abraham could have been devastated. He loved Isaac more than anything in the world. Nevertheless, he also loved God and knew God would never ask him to do anything wrong. So Abraham took Isaac and traveled to the location mentioned by God. Abraham built an altar and arranged the wood on it. He bound his son Isaac and placed him on top of the wood on the altar. This incident demonstrates Abraham’s level of obedience. God acknowledged Abraham’s obedience, intervened just in time, and saved Isaac from death. He blessed Abraham to be the father of all nations we see today. Analyze your own level of obedience to God’s word. 1. Can you recall instances when you obeyed God’s instructions or disobeyed Him? 2. How can you cultivate this sense of total obedience to God, regardless of the circumstances? Prayer: Lord Jesus, please give me an obedient heart. Amen.
