Thursday, 14 September 2023 Today’s Word of Hope:Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity because the days are evil. Ephesians 5:15-16 (NIV) During a time when the walls of Jerusalem were in ruins, and the people were facing great adversity, a man named Nehemiah displayed the importance of being intentional in using every chance for good. Nehemiah was a cupbearer to the Persian King. Even though his life was secure in the palace, the ruined state of Jerusalem troubled him. The King, who recognized Nehemiah’s anguish, permitted him to go and rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. The King also pledged and directed that all Treasury provisions be used to cover the expenses. Nehemiah acted immediately, organized the people into teams, and began the work without delay. Despite opposition and threats, Nehemiah persisted in his determination to reconstruct the city. He pushed the workers to keep focused on their mission, arming them with firearms for protection while they worked on the walls. The city’s walls were rebuilt in 52 days because of Nehemiah’s intentional leadership and unwavering determination. Questions for Reflection:1. How intentional are you in matters concerning others and God’s business?2. Do you procrastinate or use God-given opportunities with the utmost care and diligence? * God admires diligence and sincerity.* Be a person of intentional leadership in all of your God-given responsibilities, including your family. Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to be wise and sincere in utilizing every opportunity to achieve the intended goal. Amen.
