Friday, 4 August 2023 Today’s Word of Hope:My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart. Proverbs 4:20-21 (ESV) * Samuel is regarded as one of the greatest prophets in Biblical history. Samuel was brought to the Tabernacle of the Lord in Shiloh as a young boy, where he served under the priest Eli. While sleeping in the temple one night, Samuel heard a voice calling his name. Samuel quickly went to him, assuming it was Eli, but Eli told him he had not called. This happened three times until Eli realized the Lord was calling Samuel. Eli then instructed Samuel, “Go, lie down, and if he calls you, you shall say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant hears.’” Samuel did as he was told, and when the Lord called again, he replied with these words, and God spoke to Samuel. * This was a life-altering moment for Samuel; from then on, he grew in his ability to discern God’s voice.* Like Samuel, we are called to listen to God’s voice and be ready to respond with obedience.* In a world filled with distractions and noise, it is vital to cultivate a spirit of attentiveness to God’s words. * As we draw near to Him, we can find direction for our lives, comfort in times of difficulty, and strength to walk in His ways.* Intentionally spend time with Jesus daily, sharing your concerns, praising His name, and listening to His words.* Your life will never be the same again. Prayer: Lord Jesus, please help me to be attentive to your words. Amen.
