The Guide on the Ridge 🧗♂️
Today’s Word: 📖 “Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome.” — Nehemiah 4:14 (NIV)
Leo’s hands shook as he stared up at the sheer rock face. From the valley floor, the cliff looked like an impassable giant, casting a cold, intimidating shadow over him. Every creak of his harness sounded like a warning, and fear whispered that he was completely out of his depth. Just as panic began to tighten his chest, he heard a calm, booming voice from above. His guide, a seasoned mountaineer who had conquered the world’s tallest peaks, looked down with a reassuring smile. “Don’t focus on the drop, Leo,” the guide called out, securing the heavy safety line. “Look up at me. I’ve got you, and I’ve climbed much bigger walls than this.”
In the same way, we often face “giants” in our daily lives—intimidating challenges, difficult relationships, or overwhelming anxieties that make us feel small and powerless. When we focus solely on the size of our obstacles, fear paralyzes us. But Nehemiah reminds us to shift our gaze. We overcome fear not by pretending our problems don’t exist, but by remembering the size of our God, who is infinitely greater, stronger, and more awesome than any threat we will ever face.
Response: 🚶♂️ Today, when an intimidating worry or task stands in your way, pause and consciously list three “great and awesome” things God has done in your life to put the problem back into its proper perspective.
Prayer: 🙏 Lord, when the challenges before me look like giants, help me to lift my eyes and remember Your awesome power. Thank You for holding my safety line and being bigger than any fear I face today. Amen.
