Wednesday, 6 September 2023 Today’s Word of Hope:Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. Ephesians 4:25 (NIV) After revival broke out on the day of Pentecost, the believers sold their possessions and brought the proceedings to the apostles to provide for everybody’s daily needs. There was a couple named Ananias and Sapphira. They sold a piece of land and agreed to give the money to the apostles, like their fellow believers. However, they conspired to keep some of the money for themselves while claiming to donate the entire sum. When the apostle Peter confronted them, they both lied about their activities. Unfortunately, their deception had severe consequences, and they both died. Their lies cost them their lives in the end, which is a harsh warning of how dishonesty can hurt the community of believers. It emphasizes the need for honesty and integrity in our interactions with others, especially when it comes to God and His people. Questions for Reflection: 1. How honest are you about your words and actions, especially the pledges you make to God and others?2. Consider how dishonesty may undermine connections within a society or with God.3. In light of this story, how could you develop the practice of speaking honestly and transparently in your dealings with others and God? Prayer: Lord Jesus, please help me to be honest and also help me to be sincere in keeping up my words or pledges made to others. Amen.
