Monday, 4 September 2023 Today’s Word of Hope:And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, ’The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. Exodus 34:6 (NIV) The parable of the prodigal son is a heartbreaking tale of redemption and boundless love. The younger son asks for his inheritance and wastes carelessly in distant lands. He was devastated when he lost all of his fortune and was abandoned. In his desperation, he returned home to his Father, hoping for a bit of mercy. Astonishingly, as he drew near, his Father ran to him, embraced him tightly, showered him with loving kisses, pardoned his past transgressions, and welcomed him back into the family with a jubilant celebration. The Father’s embrace is not just physical; it symbolizes the boundless grace that erases every mistake and embraces the broken with unconditional love. This parable touches our emotions, inviting us to reflect on the boundless grace that seeks out the lost and the wounded. It also prompts us to examine our hearts and consider whether we, like the Father, can provide such kindness to those seeking forgiveness and restoration. Questions for Reflection: 1. How gracious are you to your children, siblings, and others in your life?2. Are you judgmental and condemning without considering or attempting to comprehend the struggles of others?3. Consider how you may extend similar grace and forgiveness to others, matching God’s gracious character and allowing your actions to exemplify His love and compassion. Prayer: Lord Jesus, please help me be a person of grace and show your love in my words and ways. Please help me not to be judgmental of others. Amen.
