Monday, 2 October 2023 Today’s Word of Hope:Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Matthew 5:9 (NIV) King Saul was furious with David because the public acknowledged his triumph over Goliath and began to celebrate him. Saul also knew that David, God’s choice for the next king, posed a threat to his throne. On the other hand, Jonathan accepted God’s decision for David to be the next king and had an incredible relationship with David. When Saul repeatedly tried to kill David, Jonathan stood up for him and spoke to his father. He advocated David’s case and attempted to make peace between David and Saul. Because of his efforts to bring peace, Saul once went so far as to throw his spear at Jonathan. Despite the threat, Jonathan stayed committed to David’s friendship and served as a peacemaker. Peacemaking is a crucial character attribute for all God’s children. Regretfully, most of us do not go through it. Many Christians live as troublemakers and peacebreakers, which is a sad reality. As a God’s child, 1. Have you had other peacemakers in your life, and how have they benefited you?2. How can you be an effective peacemaker your entire life? # It is not about referring to ourselves as God’s children. Instead, it is all about living as God’s children.# Blessed are the peacemakers because they will be called God’s children. Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me live as a peacemaker and show the world your true character. Amen.
