Seen in the Shadows 🕯️
Today’s Word: 📖 “The eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” — 2 Chronicles 16:9 (NIV)
Maya leaned her weight against the push broom, listening to the rhythmic hum of the fluorescent lights in the empty church gymnasium. For three weeks, she had poured every spare evening into organizing the community winter coat drive, and tonight, she was the only one left to sweep up the dried salt and melted snow. Her phone buzzed in her pocket—a text from her sister: “Are you sure it’s worth all this exhaustion? Nobody even thanked you.” Maya sighed, her shoulders aching as she gathered the last pile of debris. She typed back slowly, “I know. It just feels like I’m doing all this in the dark.” She hit send, wondering if her quiet, unseen faithfulness was actually making a difference to anyone at all.
Maybe you ended your day recently feeling that exact same kind of invisible exhaustion. When you are pouring yourself out—whether caring for a struggling child, holding your family together through a crisis, or showing up for a thankless job—it is incredibly easy to feel entirely overlooked. But heaven is not blind to your quiet sacrifices. God is actively searching the globe, looking specifically for hearts faithfully committed to Him in the shadows. He doesn’t just observe you to offer a distant nod of approval; He sees you to impart His strength right where your human endurance runs out.
Release the heavy burden of feeling unnoticed today, and pray with me:
Dear Lord Jesus, when I feel like I am working in the dark and my daily efforts go unappreciated, remind my heart that Your eyes are always on me. Pour Your supernatural strength into my weary places today, and help me to keep serving faithfully for an audience of One. Amen.
