Are you feeling weak and tired

“My grace is all you need, for my power is greatest when you are weak.”

2 Corinthians 12:9 (GNT)

Today's Reflection

The Rain-Soaked Field 🌧️

Today’s Word: 📖 “My grace is all you need, for my power is greatest when you are weak.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9 (GNT)

Jason trudged across the soggy grass, tossing the last orange practice cone into a mesh bag. The rain had started halfway through the youth soccer clinic, turning the field into a mud pit and the kids into a chaotic swarm. He had lost his voice, lost his patience, and ultimately cut the session short.

He dropped the heavy bag by the bleachers and rubbed his cold hands together. “I don’t have what it takes for this,” he muttered, water dripping from the brim of his cap. “They deserve someone who knows how to lead.”

His friend, Julian, jogged over from the parking lot under a large golf umbrella. “Rough afternoon, man?”

Jason shook his head. “I just fell apart out there. I’m running on empty.”

Julian held out the umbrella to cover them both. “You don’t have to be perfect, Jason. Sometimes just showing up in the mud is exactly what they need to see.”

Do you ever look at your own muddy, imperfect efforts and feel like you are running entirely on empty?

We live in a culture that celebrates self-sufficiency and relentless competence. When we reach the end of our own patience, energy, or ability, our immediate reaction is usually shame. We assume that our weakness disqualifies us from being used by God, believing He requires polished leaders who never lose their footing. But Paul’s letter to the Corinthians shatters this illusion. God doesn’t just tolerate our weakness; He actively chooses it as the canvas for His greatest power.

His grace isn’t merely a backup plan for when we fall short—it is the very fuel we are meant to run on. When you finally admit you don’t have what it takes, you stop relying on your own fragile strength and create space for His limitless power to move. The pressure to perform is replaced by the profound relief of being sustained.

If you are feeling depleted and inadequate today, I know how heavy that exhaustion can be. But God hears the quiet cries of a weary heart, and He loves to meet us right in the middle of our mess. Let’s ask Him for His strength together:

Lord Jesus, I am so tired of trying to be strong enough on my own. I look at my muddy, imperfect efforts and feel like I have nothing left to give. Please forgive my pride in thinking I had to carry it all. Pour Your sustaining grace into my empty spaces, and let Your perfect power shine through my deepest weaknesses today. Amen.
