Today's Reflection

The Unfinished Melody 🎹

Today’s Word: 📖 “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. And so through him the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God.” — 2 Corinthians 1:20 (NIV)

Sophie stared at the handwritten sheet music resting on the upright piano, her fingers hovering above the yellowed keys. She had been trying to finish the bridge of the song for weeks, but the melody felt flat, hollow, and stubbornly incomplete.

Clara, Sophie’s friend who had been observing her struggles, asked, “Are you still stuck on that same chord progression?”

Sophie dropped her hands to her lap with a heavy sigh. “I know how I want it to end, but I just can’t seem to make the notes resolve. It feels like the whole piece is broken.”

Clara approached the wooden music stand and gently tapped it. “Perhaps you don’t need to force the resolution, Sophie. Sometimes, you simply have to trust your composition so far.”

My friend! Are you staring at an unresolved chord in your own life, wondering how the dissonant pieces of your story will ever find their harmony?

When we wait on God to fulfill a promise, the silence between the notes can feel agonizing. We look at our stalled careers, our fractured relationships, or our deferred dreams, and we assume the melody has been permanently broken. In our panic, we often try to force our own resolution, frantically striking keys to make our circumstances make sense. But Paul reminds us that God is the ultimate composer, and His promises are not fragile. Every commitment He has made to your spiritual growth, your ultimate provision, and your eternal security finds its resounding “Yes” in Jesus. God does not leave His work unfinished, and He will not abandon the song He is writing in your life. Our role is simply to add the “Amen” to trust His timing and let Him bring the music to a beautiful, glorious close.

If you are aching for resolution in a season of waiting, I know how heavy that silence can feel. God hears the quietest cries of your heart, so let’s bring those unfinished pieces to Him together:

Lord Jesus, my life feels like a song stuck on a dissonant chord, and I am so tired of trying to force the resolution on my own. Thank You that every promise You make is a guaranteed “Yes,” even when I cannot hear the music yet. Please step into the unfinished spaces of my story, tune my heart to trust Your perfect timing, and bring forth a beautiful melody for Your glory. Amen.
