The Source of the Harvest 🍅
Today’s Word: 📖 “LORD, you establish peace for us; all that we have accomplished you have done for us.” — Isaiah 26:12 (NIV)
Elena stood in her backyard, admiring the wooden baskets overflowing with ripe, red tomatoes and crisp bell peppers. Her hands were calloused, and her back ached from weeks of weeding, pruning, and watering. For a moment, she felt a swell of pride in “her” beautiful harvest.
But then she looked up at the afternoon sun and smiled. She remembered the gentle spring rains she couldn’t summon, the warm sunlight she couldn’t manufacture, and the mysterious life hidden within the tiny seeds she hadn’t engineered. She had simply showed up to do the daily chores; the miracle of growth belonged entirely to another. 🌿
In the same way, we often carry the heavy burden of trying to manufacture our own success, security, and peace. We strive, stress, and work tirelessly, believing the outcome of our lives rests entirely on our shoulders. But Scripture reminds us that our successes are actually God’s grace at work through us. When we realize that He is the true source of our accomplishments, the pressure to perform fades, leaving room for a deep, quiet peace.
