Monday, 7 August 2023 Today’s Word of Hope:But I have calmed and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child I am content. Psalm 131:2 (NIV). In the book of 1 Samuel, we encounter the inspiring story of Hannah, a woman of great faith who exemplifies what it means to be calm and quiet before the Lord. Despite facing years of heartache and disappointment, Hannah’s unwavering trust in God and her steadfast prayers teach us valuable lessons about finding peace amid trials. Hannah was married to a man named Elkanah, but she struggled with infertility, which was considered a great shame in her culture. In one particular instance, as she prayed silently in the temple, her lips moving but no words escaping her mouth, the priest Eli saw her and initially thought she was drunk. However, when he realized the depth of her sorrow, he blessed her and encouraged her to go in peace. * In stressful situations, losing our cool and blowing up is easy; you have probably seen this happen to most people.* But being quiet and calm in difficult situations is not a sign of weakness.* Hannah is an excellent illustration of this quality and how God rewards individuals who choose to remain calm instead of fighting back. * Yes! God answered her prayers and blessed her with a boy who grew up to become one of Israel’s greatest prophets.* Seek God’s help in developing this character and impacting others through your life. Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to stay calm and silent in all situations, trusting in you. Amen.
