Monday, 14 August 2023 Today’s Word of Hope:Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9 (NIV) * Courage is a quality that often emerges in times of uncertainty and challenge. * When Joshua, the successor of Moses, was tasked with leading the Israelites into the Promised Land, God encouraged him through these words. In the book of Joshua, we read about the thrilling incident of the Israelites crossing the Jordan River and entering the promised land. Though it sounds simple, the reality was totally different. When the time came for the people to enter Canaan, they faced the overflowing river of Jordan, which threatened and intimidated their faith. However, Joshua did not waver in his trust in the Lord. He was steadfast in His faith and obedience to the Lord and demonstrated courage in ordering the priests to step into the river with the ark of the covenant. God honored Joshua’s obedience and his courage to move forward in faith. Yes! The waters miraculously parted as soon as the priest’s feet touched the river’s edge, allowing the people to cross on dry ground. * Are you struggling with a lack of courage in adverse situations?* When you follow God’s ways in total obedience and trust, He will be with you, no matter how difficult the journey is.* Be firm in the Lord and remain courageous.* The final victory is yours. Prayer: Lord Jesus, please give me a courageous heart to be steadfast in my faith and obedience to you. Amen.
