Today’s Word: 📖 “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” — 1 Corinthians 15:57 (NIV)
Andrew sat on the edge of the vinyl physical therapy table, staring at the blue resistance band looped around his ankle. He had been trying for twenty minutes to complete a single, unassisted leg lift, but his knee stubbornly refused to cooperate, delaying the much-anticipated recovery after the recent surgery. He let his head drop back against the wall, a heavy breath escaping his lungs.
His physical therapist, David, walked over and gently unhooked the band. “You’re fighting your own body right now, Andrew. It’s okay to let it rest.”
Andrew rubbed his scarred knee, frustration bleeding into his voice. “I just want to be healed already. I feel like I’m losing the battle against my own weakness every single day.”
David encouraged him, saying, “Andrew, the surgery was a win! You’re about to step out of the recovery room very soon…”
Are you staring at a lingering weakness in your own life, wondering why you still feel like you are losing the battle?
When we are in the messy middle of healing—whether it is recovering from a deep emotional wound, battling a persistent temptation, or navigating a spiritual dry season, it is incredibly easy to feel defeated. We look at our limited progress and assume the fight is entirely up to us, striving to manufacture our own breakthrough. But Paul’s triumphant declaration in 1 Corinthians flips our perspective. Our victory isn’t something we slowly earn through flawless spiritual physical therapy; it is a finished work handed to us by Jesus Christ. The cross was the ultimate, decisive win. Even when our daily reality involves stumbling, limping, or needing to rest, our eternal standing is already secure.
If you are exhausted from trying to force your own healing today, please know that God sees your frustration and hears the quiet sighs of your weary heart. You don’t have to win this fight on your own. Let’s bring our tired spirits to the Lord together:
Lord Jesus, I am so weary from fighting against my own weakness, and I often feel like I am failing to make progress. Thank You that the ultimate repair of my soul is already complete and that my victory is entirely secured by Your grace. Please help me to rest in Your finished work, trusting that You are gently guiding my recovery every step of the way. Amen.
