God has claimed you as His very own, and...

“You are my people'; and they will say, 'You are my God.'”

Hosea 2:23 (NIV)

Today's Reflection

Claimed and Home 🏡

Today’s Word: 📖 “You are my people’; and they will say, ‘You are my God.’” — Hosea 2:23 (NIV)

Maggen had been passed over for the lead role three auditions in a row. She stopped trying out for anything after that, convinced she simply wasn’t the “type” directors wanted and felt not talented enough to be in the cast. She took a seat in the back row of the community theater and told herself that was where she belonged now: watching, not performing. 🎭

Then the director, an older woman named Corinne, sat down beside her one rehearsal night. She didn’t ask Maggen to audition again. She just asked her to read a few lines, off to the side, just for practice. Maggen read, expecting nothing. Corinne listened, then said, “That’s the voice I’ve been looking for all season.”

Maggen blinked, waiting for the catch. There wasn’t one. Corinne handed her the script and said her name would be on the cast list by morning. For the first time in years, Maggen felt chosen.

We too often carry the quiet verdict of every rejection we’ve collected—the passed-over promotion, the friendship that faded, the room where we felt unseen. We start to believe that watching from the back row is simply where we belong. But God doesn’t overlook us the way we fear He might. He sits down beside us in our smallest, most guarded moments and says, “That’s the voice I’ve been listening for.” He claims our presence, saying, “You are my people.”

Response: 🚶‍♂️ Take a moment today to quiet your heart and remind yourself of your true identity: you are not an outcast; you are fully known, deeply loved, and claimed by God.

Prayer: 🙏 Heavenly Father, thank You for pursuing me with Your relentless love and calling me as Your own, even when I felt lost. Help me to rest in the security of belonging to You today and always. Amen.
