The Empty Patch of Dirt 🌻
Today’s Word: 📖 “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” — Matthew 21:22 (NIV)
Seven-year-old Leo carefully pressed a tiny, shriveled seed into the dark soil of his backyard garden. His grandfather had promised that if he watered it and kept it in the sun, it would grow into a giant, vibrant sunflower. For days, the patch of dirt remained completely bare. Leo’s older sister teased him, pointing out that he was just watering mud. Yet, every afternoon, Leo walked out with his little green watering can, pouring water over the empty soil with a confident smile. 💧 He didn’t need to see the sprout to know the promise was real; he watered with expectation.
In the same way, prayer is the act of planting our requests in the fertile soil of God’s faithfulness. Sometimes we pray and see nothing but bare dirt for a season, leading us to doubt if God is even listening. But active belief means praying with expectation, trusting that God is already working beneath the surface. When we pray with true faith, we release our worries and align our hearts with His power, confident that He hears us and is always faithful to answer.
