The Open Door 🚪
Today’s Word: 📖 “However, those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them.” — John 6:37 (NLT)
Victoria stared at the glowing screen of her laptop, the cursor blinking at the end of a polite but firm email. We regret to inform you… It was the third job rejection this month, and the weight of it settled in her chest like a stone. She closed the lid with a soft click and pushed the machine across the small café table.
Her friend, Grace, lowered her porcelain mug. “Another one?”
Victoria nodded, tracing the cold condensation on her water glass. “I feel like I’m just not enough. You can only be told ‘no’ so many times before you start believing you are fundamentally disqualified.”
Grace reached across the table and covered Victoria’s hand with her own. “Their ‘no’ is just about a position, Vic. It doesn’t define your worth.”
Does that fear of being fundamentally disqualified ever creep into your own thoughts?
You might be walking through this week carrying the heavy sting of a recent ‘no’—a closed door in your career, a relationship that suddenly stepped back, or a lingering sense that you just aren’t measuring up. The world operates on a strict system of merit and fit, constantly evaluating whether we make the cut. But Jesus operates differently. When He looks at you, He doesn’t see a resume to be scrutinized or a performance to be graded. His promise is absolute: whoever comes to Him will never be turned away. There are no waitlists, no conditional acceptances, and no polite rejection letters in the Kingdom of God. You are permanently welcomed.
If the sting of rejection is weighing on you today, you don’t have to hold onto it. Let’s bring that hurt to the One whose arms are always open:
Dear Lord Jesus, when the world hands me closed doors and polite rejections, remind me that Your welcome is absolute. Thank You for never turning me away or judging me by my earthly resume. Please heal the sting of ‘no’ in my heart today, and ground my worth in Your unfailing acceptance. Amen.
