The Grace of the Sunrise 🌅
Today’s Word: 📖 “The Lord’s unfailing love and mercy still continue, Fresh as the morning, as sure as the sunrise.” — Lamentations 3:22-23 (GNT)
The microwave clock glowed 4:15 AM as Lucas stared out the kitchen window into the pitch-black yard. Yesterday’s pitch to the investors had gone spectacularly wrong, and the weight of the financial fallout rested squarely on his shoulders. He traced the rim of his cold mug, obsessively replaying every stuttered sentence. Hearing soft footsteps, he turned to see his wife, Ruth, wrapping her cardigan tighter around herself against the morning chill.
“Still trying to fix yesterday?” she asked gently, leaning against the counter.
Lucas offered a defeated half-smile. “I just don’t see how we bounce back from this one. I really messed up.”
She reached out, covering his restless hand with hers. “Yesterday is over, Lucas. Let’s just wait for the sun to come up.”
Yes! It is relatively easy to trust in God’s grace when our days end in success and our efforts are met with applause. But when we stumble, when failure clings to us and the night feels endlessly dark, our instinct is to carry that heavy guilt straight into tomorrow. We treat our missteps as permanent disqualifiers, forgetting that God’s mercy operates on a daily renewal system. The sunrise is a physical promise that God does not hold yesterday’s shortcomings against you. His compassion doesn’t run out when you mess up; it resets, fresh and unblemished.
Release the bitter baggage of yesterday’s regrets, and pray with me:
Dear Lord Jesus, thank You that Your mercy is not bound by my past mistakes or yesterday’s failures. When the night feels long and my regrets are loud, help me to see the sunrise as a brilliant reminder of Your unfailing love. Wash away my guilt and give me the courage to step into the fresh, unblemished grace of this new morning. Amen.
